Insufficient controls and simplistic fighting game
Dragon Quest Swords is nothing more than an on-rails fighting game with the title Dragon Quest. That sounds boring and that's actually what it is, especially when you think about all the beauty that the Dragon Quest RPGs have brought in recent years. The game looks decent (for a Wii game), but the controls don't always cooperate well. The control issues are somewhat similar to those in Red Steel. So, do you want a game where you're constantly sword fighting like you did in Red Steel? No? Then you already know enough.

Good series, less good game
Dragon Quest has delivered many great games as a series, but The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors is quite disappointing. Although the graphics and gameplay are fine, the combat system is very poor: there is a distinction between horizontal, vertical, and diagonal attacks, but in 50% of the cases, your movements are not registered correctly, immediately reducing the fun of playing.

Furthermore, the game's story is paper-thin. Initially, this may not seem so bad, but the lack of originality is also striking. Despite the game being well polished in terms of design, we must conclude that it is quite a letdown.

Intense gameplay with physical challenge
It's a cool game, but the ending is quite annoying because you can't see the lives. You really need to have energy in your arm because I played for a long time and the next morning I had muscle pain in my arm. It gets even more fun when you stand up because then you're not just sitting there swinging the Wii Remote like a limp rag. Also, when you stand, you move more with your whole body. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors is a fantastic game.
